Formentor

We had visited Formentor a few years ago, and yet the desire to return never left us. This place had impressed us so deeply that we wanted to relive that feeling of being at the edge of the world. As soon as we arrived again on the peninsula, the same emotion came back: a mix of calm, raw beauty, and landscapes that feel almost unreal. Formentor is one of those places that stays with you long after you leave.

An iconic landscape of Mallorca

Formentor is one of Mallorca’s most iconic sites. With its steep cliffs, winding roads, and breathtaking viewpoints, every turn reveals a new perspective on the sea and the mountains. The lighthouse, perched at the tip of the peninsula, feels suspended between sky and water. We particularly enjoy the road leading there, both wild and majestic, even if it can be a bit intimidating for those who dislike sharp bends.

Playa Formentor, a unique beach

At the foot of this dramatic landscape lies Playa Formentor, a long stretch of pale sand bordered by pine trees. The water is incredibly clear, almost still, as if hesitating to merge with the rest of the Mediterranean. We enjoyed a peaceful swim surrounded by scenery that seems untouched by time. The beach is popular in summer, but early in the morning or late in the afternoon, it regains all its tranquillity.

Practical information to enjoy the area

Formentor is accessible by car, but during high season, access may be regulated and parking fills up quickly. Shuttle buses also run from Port de Pollença, a convenient option to avoid traffic. On site, a few services are available, but we always prefer bringing drinks and snacks to enjoy the place freely. The beach is long enough to find a quieter spot even when it gets busy.
