Goedereede

Categorized in The Netherlands

During our journey in South Holland, we happened upon the village of Goedereede by chance, and we do not regret stopping there and wandering its streets!

Firstly, the village of Goedereede is situated on an island (a polder), that of Goeree-Overflakkee in the Netherlands. To access this village by road, you will cross bridges and tunnels that pass under the water, which is omnipresent in this country.

A very typical village not to be missed

We found the village of Goedereede very picturesque and well-preserved, lively and ideal for strolling.

We recommend exploring some of the alleys like Pieterstraat, het Klooster, visiting the village square Markt, the Spuisluis, or photographing the Toren van Goedereede church.

Around the village, we loved the countryside and the omnipresent nature, the canals, and the traditional houses with their well-maintained gardens.

The Saint Catherine Church, majestic with its Gothic architecture, dominates the urban landscape of Goedereede. Built in the 15th century, this imposing church is a true historical and cultural gem. We did not manage to enter it.

There are many cyclists strolling through the quiet streets of Goedereede. This village undoubtedly makes for a welcome stop as the square offers some very pleasant terrace bars by the water's edge.
