The Jardins du Rayol: a must?see on the French Riviera

One of the most beautiful gardens in Europe

We arrive at the Jardins du Rayol, also known as Le Domaine du Rayol, and it quickly becomes clear why people consider it one of the most beautiful gardens in Europe. The place is huge, beautifully maintained, and each area represents a different landscape from around the world: Mediterranean, California, Australia, the Mexican desert… We move from one atmosphere to another in just a few steps, and it’s surprisingly immersive. We walk around, read a few signs, and think this is the kind of place we could visit again in another season.

Exploring the estate and heading down to the viewpoint

We follow the paths leading down toward the sea and eventually reach one of the best spots in the whole garden: the Belvédère de la Baie du Figuier. It’s at the very bottom of the estate, and the view is stunning. The water is an almost fluorescent blue, and we stay there for a while watching boats go by. At one point, we try to take a “serious” photo, but a lizard runs right in front of us and we burst out laughing. Nothing major, just a small moment that makes the visit even nicer.

A peaceful and refreshing visit

What we like here is how simple everything feels: you walk, you explore, you enjoy. The estate is big enough to spend several hours without rushing. We see families, plant lovers, couples wandering around… and everyone seems in the same relaxed mood. We end the visit with a quick stop at the small bookstore and leave thinking this is definitely a place worth recommending.
