The magical atmosphere of Lille at Christmas

Every year, Lille transforms into a true festive setting, but once again we were surprised by how strong the atmosphere felt. As soon as we arrive in the city centre, we’re wrapped in a mix of warmth and winter charm that makes us want to wander slowly through the streets. The illuminated façades, the smell of mulled wine, and the Christmas music instantly put us in a holiday mood. It’s a moment we love experiencing together, taking the time to notice every detail.

The Ferris wheel and the city from above

It’s impossible to visit Lille in December without riding the Ferris wheel on the Grand Place. With every rotation, we rediscover the city from a new angle: sparkling rooftops, lively streets, and decorations reflecting on the cobblestones. It has become a ritual for us. Up there, the noise of the city fades and we enjoy a suspended moment, almost outside of time, with a view that reminds us why Lille is so enchanting during the holidays.

Decorated streets and the 2025 surprise

This year, the streets of Vieux?Lille are even more beautiful than usual. Light garlands, carefully decorated shop windows, small squares glowing with festive colours… every corner seems to tell its own story. And then comes the big 2025 novelty: a huge Savoyard chalet installed on the Grand Place, open to everyone. We enjoyed a cold beer and a generous tartiflette in a warm, friendly atmosphere that blends the spirit of the North with the flavours of the mountains. A real surprise, and a great success.
